ADNAN MENDERES MUSEUM
AYDIN, TÜRKİYE
Adnan Menderes Museum is dedicated to the 9th Prime Minister of Türkiye, aiming to reveal his character, personal life, and political agenda. The parallel between his intricate life and the etymology of his self-adopted surname served as a major source of inspiration. The word menderes (later evolving into “meander” in English), meaning “intricacy” or “convolution,” is abstracted, and menderes-inspired formal variations are utilised as spatial and exhibition elements, such as open-plan partitions and experiential graphic panel design layouts.
Furthermore, display units are arranged in reference to stylised menderes patterns, creating a meandering visitor flow that engages visitors kinaesthetically with the subject while also supporting wayfinding.
The museum is composed of nine thematic sections: The Cocoon; The Ploughing; Maiandros/Menderes; The Democrat Party: From Establishment to Power; The Growing Türkiye; Steps: The Milestones of Türkiye; 360 Degrees, 365 Days; The World from Menderes’s Perspective and Menderes from the World’s Perspective; and May 27.
